Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County(JGSCV). The JGSCV will hold a general meeting, co-sponsored with Temple Adat Elohim, at Temple Adat Elohim, 2420 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, CA. Topic: “Facebook: The Ins and Outs of the On-Line Social Networking Utility to Find Relatives and Others” Michael Gallop, JGSCV’s former webmaster, will discuss his success on Facebook and demonstrate how to make your family tree come alive and provide invaluable knowledge about your family! Michael has been working on his genealogy for almost 20 years and has collected a tremendous amount of information about his family. However, it wasn’t until he joined Facebook that he actually developed a relationship with many of his relatives and realized how useful those relationships were in helping him uncover information on his relatives he never would have been able to obtain otherwise. Imagine being able to use your computer to connect with your relatives and have them help you with your research just as if you had interviewed them all personally. Michael is an estate and charitable planner. Following Michael’s presentation, JGSCV Board Members will share their successes with Facebook. The Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County is dedicated to sharing genealogical information, techniques and research tools with anyone interested in Jewish genealogy and family history. Meeting co-sponsored with Temple Adat Elohim. No charge to attend the meeting. Anyone may join JGSCV. Annual dues are $25 for an individual and $30 for a family.

Israel Fallen Soldier’s Day (Yom Ha-Zikkaron)-click HERE for more information.
11 am in Israel: Businesses close, sirens sound throughout the country. Daily activity comes to a stop, and everyone stands silent for two minutes. Even motorists stop and wait by their cars. To date, (TBD) Israelis have fallen, including (TBD) terror victims. In Israel, Yom Hazikaron remains one of the most solemn days of the year. By joining together, we not only show solidarity with Israel but we demonstrate in a simple and meaningful way the unity and impact of the Federation community.
